Beach Bash Friday, May 1st <<< CANCELED!!! >>> The district has advised us to cancel all field trips and after school activities until the Department of State Health Services lowers the risk level. Therefore, we will not have the Beach Bash as planned by the PTA on May 1 and the first grade field trip will be canceled on May 4th and 5th. We will reschedule the activities as time allows in our busy end of year schedule.

The Race Is On For Great Books!
Many of us, and our children,
assume books are plentiful and available all around us. For many central
We at Blackland Prairie are fortunate to have many books among us--stashed under beds, on dusty shelves, lined up neatly in rows...and we know the true joy that they bring. But, just like outgrown clothes or that funny sweater from Aunt Ruth, sometimes our books just aren't a good fit anymore.
As part of Texas PTA's Centennial Celebration in 2009, Texas PTA is launching a new literacy program called SMART - Start Meeting and Reading Together. All Local PTAs are encouraged to collect new and gently used books for children in disadvantaged and difficult circumstances.
The teachers and families of Blackland Prairie hope you will take a few minutes to scoop up the forgotten books about your house and deposit them at our "The Race Is on for Great Books" bin at the front entrance of the school. All donations will be distributed to a diverse group of organizations providing services to children in need. Have questions? Please contact Leslie at leslie_hunt@yahoo.com.
