What does a PTA do?
PTA is a grassroots organization made up of parents, teachers and
others in our community who have an interest in children,
families and schools. For more than 100 years, PTA has focused
on programs that support children and families in all aspects of
our daily lives. Whether it’s providing that special outlet for
a child’s artistic creativity, educating youth on the importance
of being good stewards of our planet, or helping to ensure that
every child has the opportunity to grow up healthy and safe; PTA
offers programs that allow students and families to be the best
they can be!
Why should I get involved?
PTA is America’s number one parent involvement resource. Your
child is why you should belong. More than 30 years worth of
research has proven that children do better when their parents
are involved both at home and at school. Grades and test scores
climb. Self-esteem grows. Schools improve.
There’s a simple way for you to help your child succeed: join
PTA! You’ll belong to a community of parents committed to their
children’s well-being and to improving school performance. When
PTA gets involved, children benefit. When YOU get involved with
the PTA, the child who benefits most is your own!
How can I benefit?
• Get connected – there’s no better way to know what’s
happening at our school.
• Tap into a network – PTA is a great way to meet other
parents and teachers.
• Be part of the solution – help make positive changes at
our school that benefit your child and other children
• Have fun – and put your skills and hobbies to good use
for a good cause.
• Be a role model – Demonstrate to your child the
importance you place on education.

I work and can't volunteer at the school during the day. How can I help?
The PTA sponsors many volunteer opportunities at our school. We
welcome your help and will work around your schedule – whether
you can volunteer every week, have only a few hours throughout
the year, need to help from home, or only in the evenings. There
are many opportunities to get involved. See our volunteer
section for more information.
What is the MISSION of PTA?
The mission of the PTA is three-fold:
•to support and speak on behalf of children and youth in
the schools, in the community and before governmental
agencies and other organizations that make decisions
affecting children;
•to assist parents in developing the skills they need to
raise and protect their children; and
•to encourage parent and public involvement in the public
schools of this nation.
What is the PURPOSE of PTA?
•To promote the welfare of children and youth in home,
school, community and place of worship.
•To raise the standards of home life.
•To secure adequate laws for the care and protection of
children and youth.
•To bring into closer relation the home and the school,
that parents and teachers may cooperate intelligently in
the education of children and youth.
•To develop between educators and the general public
such united efforts as will secure for all children and
youth the highest advantages in physical, mental, social
and spiritual education.
