Students need to read five days a week for 25 minutes. :-) One way parents may help with reading comprehension is to ask your child questions about their nightly reading. For example: * Describe the main character. * Summarize tonight's reading. * Do you agree with the actions of the main character? * What do you think is going to happen next in the story? * What connections did you make with the reading? * Did you learn any new vocabulary? * What would you change if you were the author? READING RESPONSE HOMEWORK is due on January 30th, fiction. February 6th, nonfiction. Feruary 13th, fiction. February 20th, nonfiction. February 27th, fiction. The assignments are in your students binder. Also students need to spend time studying their spelling words and vocabulary. Our spelling tests are biweekly consisting of two parts. The first section is the oral administration of the current 10 spelling words. The second part of the test is a review of previous spelling rules wherein the students need to apply the rules. The test questions come from previous tests, previous definitions located on the spelling lists, and previous assignments.
