Daily: Practice reading these words daily.
Weekly: Write a story. (Draw a picture of your story and write the words on the lines as you hear them. Bookspelling is not essential, just sounds heard.
Sept. 28 - Oct. 2: Look for Pictures that begin with the short /a/ sound like "apple".
Oct. 5 - 9: Look for pictures that begin with the /b/ sound like "baby".
Oct. 13- 16: Look for pictures that begin with the /c/ sound like "cat".
Oct. 19 - 23: Look for pictures that begin with the /d/ sound like "dog".
Oct. 26-30: Look for pictures that begin with the short /e/ sound like "elephant".
Nov. 2-6: Look for pictures that begin with the /f/ sound like "fish".
Nov. 9-13: Look for pictures that begin with the /g/ sound like "goat".
Nov. 16-20: Look for pictures that begin with the /h/ sound like "hand".
Nov. 30-Dec. 4: Look for pictures that begin the short /i/ sound like "igloo".
Dec. 7-11: Look for pictures that begin with the /j/ sound like "jam".
Jan. 5-8: Look for pictures that begin with the /k/ sound like "kite".
Jan. 11-15: Look for pictures that begin with the /l/ sound like "leaf".
Jan. 19-22: Look for pictures that begin with the /m/ sound like "mom".
Jan. 25-29: Look for pictures that begin with the /n/ sound like "nest".
Feb. 1-5: Look for pictures that begin with the short /o/ sound like "otter".
Feb. 8-12: Look for pictures that begin with the /p/ sound like "pig".
Feb. 16-19: Look for pictures that begin with the /q/ sound like "quilt".
Feb. 22-26: Look for pictures that begin with the /r/ sound like "rabbit".
March 1-5: Look for pictures that begin with the /s/ sound like "snake".
March 8-12: Look for pictures that begin with the /t/ sound like "tiger".
March 22-26: Look for pictures that begin with the short /u/ sound like "umbrella".
March 29-April 1: Look for pictures that begin with the /v/ sound like "vest".
April 5-9: Look for pictures that begin with the /w/ sound like "watermelon".
April 12-16: Look for pictures that contain the /x/ sound like "box".
April 19-23: Look for pictures that begin with the /y/ sound like "yak".
April 26-30: Look for pictures that begin with the /z/ sound like "zoo".
