Announcements

As this year comes to a close, I want to thank you all for such a wonderful,
productive year. I am very proud of our students and their
accomplishments. I know that this step of their journey has come to a close
and wish them luck on the next step!

This is a copy of the summer letter and information. Please contact me if
you need an extra copy of any materials.

Dear Parents,

I am writing you one last time to thank you for sharing our children
with me this past school year. It seems like only a few weeks ago when we
were at back to School Night. I hope that along the way the children have
gained knowledge, helpful tips on organizing themselves, accessing
information and, of course, flexibility!

I encourage you to set aside some time this summer to review reading
and math skills, especially the multiplication tables. I’m including some
suggestions and tips from the US Department of Education to keep some basic
Language and Math skills fresh. I hope you will find these helpful. Don’t
forget that you can also access all of the TEKS (Texas Essential Knowledge
and Skills) on the Internet at:
www.tea.state.tx.us/teks/grade/Fourth_grade.pdf

I have also included a booklist of great summer reading. This list
was chosen to encourage your child’s reading over the summer. Please note
that I have NOT read all the books on this list and PLEASE preview any books
before your child reads them.

As always, our class website will remain up all summer with some
great links to learning activities. It is linked through our Buckholts ISD
Home Page. www.buckholtsisd.net . Your child has also created an All About
Me slideshow in Power Point. If you do not have a computer that will play
it, I will be here every day from 8-12 M-F until June 29—so stop by and I
will get you logged on to enjoy it!

I hope each one of you have a safe and restful summer.

Sincerely,

Rebecca Adam
