About The Teacher

Mr. McPhail is originally from Rhode Island. He started college at the
University of Rhode Island and finished at University of North Texas. Mr.
McPhail has taught as a private lesson teacher in Frisco, Keller and
Carollton-Farmers Branch ISDs and has been a band director in Venus and
Temple ISDs before coming to RRISD. He has over twenty former students who
are now also band directors or music majors at major universities throughout
the US. His wife, Stacy, is currently working on a masters in counseling
psychology and his four great pyrenees and one golden retreiver are
currently shedding hair all over the house.

Ms. Camacho is from Wichita, Kansas where she grew up playing piano, soccer
and riding horses. She joined band in the 6th grade on the clarinet, and as
a sophomore in high school took up the bassoon - and become completely
hooked. As a member of the Wichita Wind Ensemble, Wichita Youth Orchestra
and All-State Band, Interlochen Arts Camp and Apple Hill Chamber music
festival she decided to continue with her love for music in
college. Leaving the snow and wind behind to come become a LONGHORN at the
University of Texas, she performed in various ensembles including the
Longhorn Band, UT Wind Ensemble and Symphony Orchestra and traveled with the
Wind Ensemble to Napa Valley and Europe. Teaching private bassoon lessons
at Murchison and Hill Country Middle Schools and teaching at the Longhorn
Music Camp in the summer, she discovered her passion for teaching and
cultivating young musicians and decided to pursue a career as a band
director. Ms. Camacho completed her student teaching in the Pflugerville
School District and is excited for the upcoming band year– GO LIZARDS!

Mission For The Class

Our wish for our band students is to learn about music and develop a love
for music like we did in middle school band. We want them to keep music
throughout their lives and hopefully keep playing their instrument well into
adulthood. We want a band that they are proud to say they are a part of, a
band that the school is proud of, and a band that the parents and community
are proud of. Band is more about commitment and dedication than it is notes
on a page. If we strive to meet these goals, the music part will take care
of itself.
