<DIV>Homework is an opportunity for students to take responsibility for their education.  This will help them to prepare for what will be asked of them as they go on to middle school next year.  </DIV>
<UL><LI>Homework will be written down every Friday for the upcoming week, in student planner.        </LI><LI>Homework is taken for a grade.</LI><LI>Homework must be turned in on the due date, except in the case of an emergency (accident, illness, etc…).</LI><LI>If an assignment is late: 
<UL><LI>A conduct mark will be given on the Tuesday Folder for each missing assignment.</LI><LI>The student will be asked to attend study hall during their recess to make up the assignment. Study hall is not viewed as a punishment, but as an opportunity to get caught up on missing work.</LI><LI>10 points will be taken off of an assignment that is turned in late. </LI><LI>If your child has questions about the assignment, bring your child to school early so that they can get any questions answered. </LI></UL></LI></UL>
Agenda: The students will maintain an agenda throughout the year.  In the past they have proven to be a useful tool in helping the students keep track of assignments. They also provide a way for the parents and the teacher to communicate on a daily basis.
<UL dir=ltr style="MARGIN-RIGHT: 0px"><LI>The agenda must be signed by a parent each evening. When you sign the agenda, you are saying that your child has completed all of the homework assignments. Please do not sign it for the week in advance. </LI><LI>If you would like to write a brief note, please feel free to write it in the agenda.</LI><LI>The agenda will be checked each day to ensure that there is a signature, and also to check for parent communication. </LI><LI>Please keep in mind that it is your child’s responsibility to bring their agenda and homework to you.  This is so that you can see the assignments are completed and therefore you can in good faith sign the agenda. </LI></UL>
Reading Log/AR Points: Reading</ST1></ST1> is very important for developing vocabulary, as well as increasing fluency. Your child should be reading books that are close to their reading level to ensure that reading growth will occur. 

<P class=MsoListParagraphCxSpFirst style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt 0.5in; TEXT-INDENT: -0.25in; LINE-HEIGHT: normal; mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; mso-margin-top-alt: auto; mso-margin-bottom-alt: auto; mso-add-space: auto">·        Fifth graders will be expected to keep a reading log of the books they are reading each evening on their reading log. Your child will need to write down the book they have read, the amount of minutes read, and the exact page numbers. Your signature and your child’s signature are required to verify your child’s reading. The reading log will be due each Friday and will be taken for a grade. <o:p></o:p>
<P class=MsoListParagraphCxSpLast style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 10pt 0.5in; TEXT-INDENT: -0.25in; LINE-HEIGHT: normal; mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; mso-margin-top-alt: auto; mso-margin-bottom-alt: auto; mso-add-space: auto">·         Students are required to maintain 25 AR points per grading period. The students must pass tests in order to gain points. Students are encouraged to have at least 2.78 AR points per week in order to achieve the minimum expectation.<o:p></o:p>

<DIV>Spelling/Vocabulary: Students will receive a spelling/vocabulary list every two weeks. Homework will be given throughout the two week period and a test will be given at the end of the spelling/vocabulary unit. </DIV><A href="Storyboard.pdf">
