Howdy! I am thrilled to welcome you and your child to third grade at Cactus Ranch Elementary. I know this year will be filled with exciting opportunities to learn and grow. My name is Amanda Carson, and I am your child’s third grade teacher. I can’t wait to start my fifth year at Cactus Ranch. I feel honored to work with such amazing administrators, teachers, and parents here. It really does feel like one big, happy family.
My husband, Michael, and I just celebrated our fourth anniversary in July. We met at Texas A&M, where we both graduated. We love Aggie football and plan to attend some games this fall. We even have two dogs, Maggie and Dixie, affectionately named after some great Aggie Traditions!
Michael and I are also big Cubs fans! Every year we try to plan a few trips to see them play. Over spring break, we took a road trip to Arizona to see their spring training. Our biggest trip happened this summer, though. We went to Washington D.C. and Philadelphia, and while we were there primarily to see the history of our great nation, we couldn’t help but squeeze in a few Cubs games, too. We saw them play against the Nationals and the Phillies! We also took a tour of the Capitol and the White House, saw the Declaration of Independence and the Bill of Rights, walked through Ford’s Theater, and visited several of the Smithsonian Museums. In Philadelphia, we saw the Liberty Bell and ate a Philly cheesesteak the length of my forearm! All in all, I would say we packed a lot into one trip.
Third grade is my favorite year because it’s a milestone in every child’s life. I look forward to sharing this experience with your family.
