When should I keep my child home from school?

The American Academy of Pediatrics and RRISD recommend that students be kept 
home from school if any of the following conditions exist:
- Signs of severe illness, including fever, difficulty breathing, 
irritability or extreme sleepiness.
- Vomiting or diarrhea 2 or more times in 24 hours.
- Fever or rash until a physician has determined that the problem is not 
caused by an infectious disease.
-Fever over 100 degrees

When can my child return to school?

Students must be symptom free and fever free for 24 hours(without the use of 
fever reducing medications) before they return to school.

My child has Strep throat, who should I notify?

Please call the Nurses's office at 424-8010 to report any communicable 
disease such as strep throat, head lice, conjunctivitis (pink eye),or 
chicken pox.

I'm concered that my child may need glasses. What should I do?

Vision and Hearing screening is performed on all students at Cactus Ranch 
Elementary during the first 3 months of school. You will be notifird in 
writing if your child does not pass the screening. If at any time during the 
school year you have concerns about your child's vision or hearing, please 
call the Nurses office at 424-8010 and we will rescreen your child.
