Dear Parents,
Each year CRE embraces a worthy organization and engages in school activities
throughout the year to educate our staff and student body, as well as to find
ways to support it. This year CRE has chosen Special Olympics of Texas, and
more specifically the athletes and mission of the Round Rock Roadrunners.
Each classroom has adopted an athlete from the program.
Our class had the pleasure of adopting Andrew Thompson, a Round Rock
Roadrunner from McNeil high school. We have written a few letters back and
forth as a class, and Andrew even sent us one of his medals for the class to
enjoy.
Just a few updates and reminders:
*If your child is participating in the Pizza Hut BOOK-IT program, please send
in their October book log by Monday for a free personal pan pizza.
*Daylight savings ends on Sunday, November 1st. We are falling back an hour.
*Report Cards are going home Tuesday, November 3rd. You may review the second
grade report card and rubric at the following link:

*An Opera Singer from the Austin Lyric Opera is going to come and perform for
the 1st and 2nd graders on Friday, November 6th in the afternoon.
*Veteran’s Day is Wednesday, November 11th. CRE will be offering a free
breakfast to veterans that morning in the cafeteria. This is also an Early
Release Day.
*Our Field Trip to Inner Space Caverns is Tuesday, November 17th.
Thank you,
Rachael Ashe
