Hey Families,
Fractions, fractions, fractions! That's what we've been doing in math for the last 3 weeks! We have had lots of fun with our different fraction activities, like Fraction Feud and using Cuisennaire Rods! We will have our test over fractions on Thursday, December 17th.
In Social Studies we just finished studying about the Early European Explorers and how they have shaped our country and state. Science, this week, has us working on our class Science Fair project! We are doing an experiment with parachutes titled, "Parachutes: Does size matter?" The kids are super excited about the project and the prospect of dropping different sized parachutes out of our classroom windows! We previously thought that Science Fair registration forms were due this Thursday, December 17th, however they are actually not due until January 12th! Sorry for the confusion!
In writing, we have been working on "A Time We Were Proud"! This paper will be due this Thursday, December 17th!! We are going to do what I call "writing surgery" on these rough draft papers this week! We also had a surprise Writing Benchmark that we weren't aware of. The kids did an awesome job of being flexible and working this test into their schedule! They also performed very well on it!
In reading, we are halfway through Holes. The students are really enjoying this book! We will be watching the PG movie this Friday, December 18th at 9:15am! Yay!
Smiles,
Mrs. McLelland & Mrs. Privott
