Hello and Welcome to Cactus Ranch Elementary!!!

My name is Nikita Shannon and this is my third year at Cactus Ranch
Elementary. This will be my third year as the PPCD teacher. I am so excited
about being a part of the wonderful family and learning community here at
CRE. Before Cactus Ranch I taught 2nd grade at Old Town Elementary.

I went to Sam Houston University and received my Bachelors in Early
Childhood and Elementary Education, with a minor in Special Education. While
earning my degree at Sam Houston State, I also played on the Women's
Basketball team!

Now on a more personal note. I celebrated my 2 year anniversary on June
24th. I am married to a wonderful friend and husband named Robert. You will
see him on campus occassionally so make sure you tell him hello. :)
We are expecting our 1st bundle of joy....YEAH...Due Date: December 31st
We are so excited about this new chapter in our life. We will find out if it
is a boy or girl in August and you will be the 1st to know!!

As of now we have one very active puppy that we adopted from the Animal
Shelter in Georgetown and her name is Sassy. She is three years old.

Your child will be learning many new things in PPCD. He or she will grow
mentally, emotionally, and socially as well as physically this school year.
It is my goal to help develop your child in all of these areas. I know that
you are very interested in the amount of growth your child will make this
year. If there is something concerning your child that will help me teach
him/her
please give me a call. We will be learning many new things throughout the
year so if you have any suggestions or ideas please feel free to share them.
We are all in this together.

I appreciate all of your support for our PPCD program. Of course, I consider
my job as a teacher to be the most important one in the world. After all,
you are entrusting your most precious possession to my care. I look forward
to seeing you throughout the year. If I can be any assistance to you or if
you have any questions, please feel free to call me any time.

It takes a Village to raise a child, and I am honored to be a part of your
child's village.

Mrs.Christina:

Hi! My name is Christina Soria (Ms. Christina) and I am one of the
educational assistants this year. This is my 2nd full year in PPCD and I am
excited for another fabulous year. I really enjoy working with your kids, so
much so that I am going back to school to receive my Master's in education.
So I will have a busy year ahead of me. Your children have inspired me to
learn and grow more than I ever thought I would. So thank you for letting me
be a part of their lives. Not only will I be working with your amazing kids
and going back to school, I also have a husband and two kids that I care for.
My husband, Jose, and I have been married for 13 years this August. We have a
beautiful 12 year old daughter, Amelia and a handsome 9 year old son Adrian.
They keep me busy with volleyball, choir, basketball, girl scouts, the whole
nine yards. I can't wait to see all that is in store for us this year.

PPCD/TWC

PPCD stands for: Preschool Program for Children with Disabilities

The PPCD program provides classroom-based and support services to eligible
3, 4, and 5 year old children. Services may be provided on campus or in
some cases, day care or home bound settings. Eligibility is determined
through a play based assessment by our district assessment team.
Parent-professional collaboration is an integral part of the
PPCD program.

We have combined the Together We Can initiative with our PPCD classroom. The
purpose of this initiative is to provide an opportunity for our students
with special needs to be educated with their typically developing peers and
to provide a more inclusive setting for our students.
