What is the penalty for a paper turned in with no name?

The penalty for a paper turned in without a name is writing your
name 50 times in study hall. Believe it or not this is the
penalty the students selected as appropriate.

How often is the teacher.web website updated?

I try to update this page as needed. However, at minimum it will
be updated bi-monthly. The website acts a replacement for
newsletters that were sent home in Take Home Folders folders
previous years.

How much time should my child spend on homework?

National guidelines state 10 minutes x grade level. So students
can expect about 50 minutes of homework per day. However, all
children work at different levels and speeds! It is not unusal
for a child to spend an hour working each night. Encourage your
child to use their classtime wisely to finish or at least start
homework!

Do you give classtime to work on assignments?

Yes! However the amount of classtime available to work varies
daily.

Where can I see my child's grades?

Students take home Tuesday folders. Their weekly work and grades
are included with general school information for you to view.
Please note any grades that are 70 or below! Students should be
writing their current CIT (citizenship) grades on the front of
their folders as well. If you ever have questions about grades
please do not hesitate to contact me via email or phone.

How are science packets graded?

The total number of items in each packet dtermines the point
value to items that are missing from the packet. Additional
points deducted are minus 2 points for each item out of order.
Incomplete papers are worth half of the original point value. I
know this seems like a lot of points deducted however, the only
requirements on the packet are that each item is present (this
keepsstudents accountable and provides them with study
materials) ,and I require the items to be in order (I grade up to
50 packets for each unit). The students are instructed to put
the items in their binders as they are completed and instructed
to enter them on the table of contents I provide. A table of
contents (chart size) is posted in my classroom so at any time
students can keep track of the assignment that they will need to
be responsible for.
