How are science packets graded?
The total number of items in each packet dtermines the point value to items that are missing from the packet. Additional points deducted are minus 2 points for each item out of order. Incomplete papers are worth half of the original point value. I know this seems like a lot of points deducted however, the only requirements on the packet are that each item is present (this keepsstudents accountable and provides them with study materials) ,and I require the items to be in order (I grade up to 50 packets for each unit). The students are instructed to put the items in their binders as they are completed and instructed to enter them on the table of contents I provide. A table of contents (chart size) is posted in my classroom so at any time students can keep track of the assignment that they will need to be responsible for.Back to Top
