Weekly Newsletter

News and Information for the week of November 9nd:

This past week was filled with fun fall activities sprinkled with some spider ones too.  Next week we will be learning about Thanksgiving with our focus on Native Americans.

EARLY RELEASE:  This Wednesday, Nov. 11th is Early Release. Students will be released at 12:45. Butterflies will have lunch at 10:45 on this day.

NEEDS:  We are in need of glue sticks and CUBED tissue boxes. Please send in with your child to be put in their school box and at table. Extra glue sticks also greatly appreciated. Thanks!

PREPPED MATERIALS: Please look in your child's backpack to see if there is anything that needs to be prepped for the upcoming activities in December.

BOOK ORDERS: November book orders will be in this Tuesdays folder and will be due Friday, November 13th. Sorry for the short turn around, but December will be here before we know it and I will be sending out December book orders. If your order is to be kept a secret for the holidays let me know so we can arrange a discreet pick-up time when your books arrive.

OUR SUPERSTAR: Anna- it will be great to learn about our superstar this week!

 NO NOVEMBER BIRTHDAYS

VOLUNTEERS THIS WEEK:

Tuesday folder & Poetry folder:     Mamatha @ 1:30

                                                               ? ( 11/12)

             Computer Lab:                              Mr. Jiang   (7:45-8:30)

READING GROUPS: Formal reading group instruction will REALLY begin this week. I had hopes to begin last week but the reading folders were not ready yet. The students were really engaged last week with our introduction of the Daily 5 and reading group expectations. Each group also got together and came up with a name for their group. Remember when your child brings home the reading folder be sure to look for the little book inside. Please take time to sit with your child and let them share this book with you. Everyone’s reading folder and reading book must be returned the following day. Since we are just learning the procedures for reading groups students may or may not bring their reading folder home daily. Please be sure to ask them if they have it.

THANK YOU:

-Sidya's mom for stuffing Tuesday folders and making the reading folders!

- Neha and Sidyya's mom for being our guest reader
- Mr. Jiang for helping in the computer lab

Thank you for your helping hands and hearts. We truly appreciate it.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU VERY MUCH - Your helping hands and hearts are greatly appreciated!
