Week of May 21
Dear Parents,
5...................................................?
FAVORITE GAME DAY AND AUTOGRAPH AFTERNOON…Have your child bring in a favorite board game on Thursday, May 24 for our Cozy Read Day. All games should be able to fit in a backpack. Also, if your child has a yearbook, please be sure to send that day for our Autograph Afternoon. Make sure your child’s book is name labeled to avoid any mix-ups. No worries, I’ll have some little autograph booklets for those who didn’t order a yearbook.
PARTY…Our end of year class breakfast will be on Friday, May 25 from 8:45am-9:15am. This will be a very low key event as things can become quite hectic at this time of year. There is no craft or activity, just some time to be together before we all go our separate ways for the summer. We are looking forward to this event. I hope you will be able to join us. Please remember to sign in at the office to pick up your visitors pass before coming to the classroom. As always, thank you for finding child care for your preschoolers. See you then!
RECOMMENDATIONS…So much has been accomplished this year and it essential that you assist your child by continuing to practice these skills throughout the summer. Research shows that if a child does not practice skills frequently during the summer months, a decline is usually noted. I will leave my “Home Reading” web page online during the summer so you may use it as a resource. You’ll find it to contain comprehension questions to use while reading with your child. In addition, I’ll be including a Summer Suggestion List in report card envelopes. It offers many ways to keep academic skills polished through the summer months.
SUCCESS…Our final few days of second grade are upon us. I want to thank you for helping to make it such a wonderful year. Your child has provided me with quite a year of joy and fond memories. I feel so rewarded when reviewing his/her academic, behavioral, and social accomplishments. I know you are very proud too! How fortunate for me to have the opportunity to watch my students as they progress through their years at Canyon Creek Elementary.
I wish you and your family a splendid, fun-filled, safe summer.
Thanks for a fantastic year!
Fondly,
Sheri
