2012-2013 NJHS Prospects:
Entrance Criteria: 7th and 8th grade students who have maintained a cumulative 95 average for their years at Canyon Vista will receive a Student Activity Information Form for NJHS through their Advisory teacher mid-March. Other eligibility requirements state that the student has to be enrolled at Canyon Vista for a full semester before applying. The completed form/essay must be turned in to the Library. No late essays will be accepted. After the form is turned in by the student, there is a reviewing/selection committee that finalizes the list for NJHS inductees. While the academic criterion is the most important, service, leadership, character and citizenship are also part of the criteria for membership. Citizenship, service and leadership involve participation in classroom, school and community activities. On the REQUIRED N.J.H.S. ESSAY, students should provide many examples of their participation, service and leadership in the classroom, school and community activities, such as classroom interactions, school clubs and organizations, scouting, church groups, community service, etc. The character criterion is defined by consistently exemplifying appropriate behavior. The students and parents will be notified of their acceptance status by mail mid April. The induction ceremony will be held on May 7,2013.
