Reminders
Our holiday party will be this Thursday after lunch. Everyone is welcome to join us in our classroom for games and yummy food!
The social studies benchmark will be given Tuesday, December 15th.
The long division retake test will be given this Wednesday, December 16th. I will assign practice problems (not to be taken for a grade) for homework the night before for those needing extra practice.
No Night Writes this week.
Monday folders went home today. Please remember to review classwork and district/school notes and sign the back.
Also, if your child has a failing grade on any test but is above a 50, you may indicate to me that you would like your child to retake it. Just send a note with the assignment so that I'll know to have him/her retake it. A student may not be able to make up a test if it is from a previous nine weeks, as I am not allowed to go back and change grades from the previous nine weeks.
Planners/assignment books will be written in everyday even if there is no homework. "No homework" will be written in the allotted space. Otherwise, students are responsible for copying items belonging in the planner and returning any necessary homework the very next day.
Reading:
We will be reading different folktales, fables, myths and legends.
Writing:
Students will continue to revise and rewrite their how-to writing. They are due Wednesday.
Math:
We are working on the metric system (standard international) of measurement. Units we are learning about are: millimeter, centimeter, meter, kilometer, decimeter. Depending on how well students comprehend the concept, we may assess on Friday.
Social Studies:
We are working on a crossword puzzle project. Students were asked to create their own crossword puzzle using facts from the book. They were to pick 5 people, 5 places and 5 vocabulary words from past through present and write clues for each word. Then they are to put it in a crossword puzzle form.
Spelling:
No spelling this week.
