November 2, 2009

 

Two very important events will take place tomorrow, November 3rd; the 5th grade group picture and the 5th grade program. The group picture will take place in the morning, so wear something nice.  Please show up for the program no later than 6:45 to the cafeteria and wear a solid red or blue shirt, jeans and tennis shoes. I look forward to seeing you all and your parents at the 5th grade program on Tuesday, November 3rd at 7pm.  I know how hard you have been practicing and I can't wait to see the preformance. 

 

Report cards for the first 9 weeks are in the folder.  Please have your parents sign and return the copy with parent signature in the envelop provided, tomorrow. The other copy is for you to keep.

 

Please remember your reading  minutes for the month of October were due today.  If you forgot, please bring your planner tomorrow with the total number of minutes and your parents signature below the month of October.  The November calendar will be due on at the end of the month.  The secret word is enslave. Don't forget to read over the Thanksgiving break because you will still need to read a minimum of 600 minutes .  

  

In math we will study patterns. The assessment for perimeter, area, and volume will come home tomorrow. 

 

In social studies the assessment for the 13 colonies is in your folder. We will begin to study more about slavery and the Revolutionary War.  The vocabulary graphic organizer is social study words, so please complete it and turn it in by Friday.  Science with Ms. Bray will be genetics. 

 

We will continue our novel "Sign of the Beaver."  We will answer comprehension questions daily. The next Book Report is due in December, but the title of the book you select will be due on November 6th, so please start looking at books you might want to read. 

 

The spelling assessment will come home in the folder.  Please have the test signed if the grade is below a 70. The spelling assessment for the social studies words will be on Friday.
