Howdy! My name is Christina Rieks and this is my first year teaching at North
Oaks. For the past three years I've been teaching second grade in San Antonio
with Northside ISD. I started teaching there right out of college and it was
an exciting learning experience. I grew up in Houston, TX and my parents now
reside in Katy, TX. I have two younger siblings, Scott 25 and Amy, 23 whom
I'm very close to and we see each other as often as possible. I grew up with
parents in the service industry and it was always evident I would chose a
similar career path. My father just recently retired from the Houston Police
Department after 28 years of service. My mother has been a teacher for 27
years and currently teaches English as a Second Language in Katy ISD. I
attended Texas A&M University my freshman and sophomore years of college and
then transferred to Southwest Texas State University where I graduated with a
Bachelors in Interdisciplinary Studies with an emphasis in Reading. My
certifications are in Elementary Education, grades 1-8 and English as a
Second Language, grades 1-8. Teaching is the most rewarding career and I love
being part of the North Oaks community. I've always enjoyed learning new
ideas, exploring, and researching. Being a teacher ensures that I will always
be able to do this and keep experiencing new things. My students are a part
of me and every year I get to add a little more to my own life.
