Happy New Year! It's January and we're jumping right back in to school! No homework Monday or Tuesday.Math's new topic is decimals. Tenths and hundreths. Think and talk$!Also, try to get the kids to use really descriptive vocabulary that make sense when they use them, as they are just visiting with you! Sometimes words are chosen that don't really fit the sentence or sentiment as well as it could. Challenge your student to use at least one good vocabulary word at each meal!Math: Decimals - Keep practicing the math multiplication facts 12 x 12 so we can use them! Those who don't know the basic multiplication facts are quickly finding out math is much slower and more confusing without them! Please work on them for instant recall! Science: Natural Resources then weather Social Studies: Mrs. Creger is teaching this class this year all about Texas History! Texas Colonies & Independence Reading: Folk Tales and Theme : We are working on Reading Workshop, and the skills that make good readers. What are the strategies of a good reader, and what elements of a reading do we need to pay attention to make meaning of what we read. Writing: Narratives - We also have a Writing Workshop journal where we keep notes on tools good writers use and practice with our own ideas. We learn the difference between expository and personal narrative types of writing. Words Their Way is our new Word Study program we will implement this year.
