Welcome to Second Grade at Kathy Caraway Elementary. I am Virginia
Gregory-Wilder, your child’s teacher. I am very excited for our year to
begin. This is my third year here at Caraway, and I am looking forward to
an exciting new year. I am also looking forward to getting to know your
child this year.
I grew up outside of Houston, Texas. Education was very important to my
family, and my sisters and I where the first generation in our family to
attend college. I'm very proud to say that both of my sisters and myself
now have Masters degrees and that we are all teachers. We are very excited
to pass on our love of learning and our belief that education is the key to
many doors in life.
I earned a bachelor’s degree in English with a minor in Marketing from Sam
Houston State Universtiy. Then I went on to Texas State University to get
my Masters Degree in Education. I student taught in both San Marcos and
Auckland, New Zealand. My time in New Zealand was very exciting. I was
able to teach in a completely different system, and I love being able to use
what I learned there in my classrooms here to expand my students horizons.
This is my sixth year teaching. I taught my three prior years at Brushy
Creek Elementaty in Round Rock. I have taught both Fourth grade and Second
grade in the past.
This year is going to be very important for your child's education. We
will be developing skills that your child will need next year in third grade
and beyond.
Communication is very important to your child's success. We will have a
daily communication log in order to keep in touch and meet your child's
needs. Your child will also have a Monday Folder. This folder will also
serve as a communication folder. Each Monday this folder will also include
important information from our classroom as well as school news.
