Parents, Thank you so much for all you did to help make the Coffee House successful! It was so fun to be able to have you all in class to hear the students' great poetry! I am so proud of all they accomplished and know that they loved getting to show off their stuff!!!

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: DURING THE FOURTH SIX-WEEKS, WE WILL BE READING "DR. JEKYLL AND MR. HYDE" (KAPLAN EDITION ONLY) BY ROBERT LOUIS STEVENSON AND FULL TILT BY NEAL SHUSTERMANN. WE WILL READ JEKYLL/HYDE IN CLASS AND YOU WILL READ FULL TILT OUTSIDE OF CLASS. ALL STUDENTS NEED TO HAVE BOTH OF THESE NOVELS IN CLASS ON JANUARY 8TH!! THAT IS THE FRIDAY AFTER WE RETURN FROM WINTER BREAK. I KNOW MANY OF YOU HAVE ALREADY PURCHASED THEM, BUT FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO HAVEN'T, I PLACED AN ORDER AT THE SOUTHLAKE BARNES AND NOBEL ON NOVEMBER 20TH. THEY HAVE SOME IN STOCK NOW, BUT THE ORDER SHOULD TAKE ABOUT TWO WEEKS. I ORDERED ENOUGH FOR EVERYONE TO GET ONE, SO DON'T PUT THIS OFF BECAUSE OTHER CUSTOMERS MAY BUY THESE BOOKS. STUDENTS HAVE KNOWN ABOUT NEEDING THESE NOVELS SINCE AUGUST 24TH!

LITERARY RECIPE IS DUE DECEMBER 17TH. THIS WAS ASSIGNED ON NOVEMBER 13TH. ALL STUDENTS HAVE AN OUTSIDE READING BOOK FOR THIS ASSIGNMENT. STUDENTS HAVE THE DIRECTIONS/REQUIREMENTS IN THEIR BINDERS.

The semester exam essay will be written Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday in class. No part of this essay may be done at home. If students need extra time, they may attend morning tutorials on Wednesday and Thursday and/or attend Extended Day on Wednesday. This essay counts as one test grade for the 3rd six weeks as well as 1/2 of the semester exam grade.
