What is the reason for Computer Literacy?
Welcome to 7th and 8th Grade Computer Literacy at
Coleman Middle School. It is our mission to help students explore and get
the skills needed for a successful future.
Computer literacy is an 18 week, (one semester course),
designed to make students aware that the computer is a powerful tool for
solving problems. The content of the course embraces both literacy and
applications and is organized to help students become computer literate. We
define computer literacy to mean what a person needs to know about using a
computer to solve problems. This course attempts to strike a balance
between theory and practice by reading and understanding text and also by
working directly with the computers.
There are many students who exceed computing fundamentals. Our goal for this
exploratory course is to provide training of basic computer skills for
7th and 8th grade students.
