We sent home a letter today (May 27) in which the front page needs to be
signed and returned to us by Friday (May 29). It is a copy of our rules for
athletics. There is one correction that needs to be made and that is that the
shorts color for athletics is now DARK PURPLE not black as it states in the
letter.

Announcements for '09-10:

The Jaguars had another successful football season winning three out of four

history to post a 9-0 record. The 8th grade B team finished undefeated in
district(8-0) and had an overall 8-1 record. That makes 5 consecutive 8th
grade B team championships! The 7th grade A team finished with a perfect 8-0
record and the 7th grade B team finished with a very respectable record of 5-
2-1. Congratulations to all the players and thank you to all of the parents

INFORMATION ABOUT FALL ATHLETICS CLASS

1. You have to be on the football team to be in the athletics class for the
fall semester. Basketball tryouts are in November and if you make the team
you will be enrolled in the athletics class at that time. You do NOT have to
be in the class to run cross-country in the fall or track in the spring.

2. You must have a medical physical. Physicals will be given at McNeil HS in
the gym area on Saturday morning, May 16th. They are $20.00. All proceeds
are being donated to RRISD athletics-so it is a fair price and it is for a
good cause. The doctors are donating their time to help us out. Please fill
out ALL forms and return them. Several signatures are required by the parent
AND the athlete. The only form that you cannot fill out yourself is the last
page and that will be completed by a doctor. IMPORTANT: IF YOU ARE GOING TO
USE YOUR OWN DOCTOR, YOU STILL NEED TO RETURN ALL PAPERWORK TO US. WE WILL
GIVE YOUR SON A SEPARATE FORM TO TAKE TO HIS DOCTOR AT A LATER TIME BEFORE HE
LEAVES FOR THE SUMMER.

3. Football tryouts for NEW STUDENTS or for 8th graders that did not have
the opportunity to try out this spring will be held on the first or second
day of school from 3:45-5:00pm. You must wear shorts and a t-shirt (it will
be hot) and bring a completed physical form with you (or have one on file
with us) in order to try out. It will be non-contact and will consist of
tests that measure height, weight, agility, speed, and eye-hand coordination.
Bring a water bottle if you think you will need one. Grades and discipline
records will also be a factor in our decision.

4. The coaches will be back around August 10th. Please e-mail any questions
using the link found on this website or call 428-2365 and leave a message.
We will place blank physical forms in the front office of the school if you
need them this summer. We will have a mandatory parent meeting the week
prior to the beginning of the school year. It usually lasts a little over an
hour and it will be held in the evening. The exact date and time will be
posted on this website as soon as it becomes known.

5. What you need for the class: black cleats, running shoes, and an athletic
uniform- we will sell those in August. All other football gear will be
provided.
