About The Teacher Label:
About The Teacher
Bonjour, This is my fifth year teaching at Cedar Valley Middle School. I am teaching French IA/IB and Exploratory Languages this year. I love to learn languages and I hope to convey my passion for languages to all my students as well! I was born in Vietnam, grew up in Paris, France, and also lived in Alberta, Canada, where I taught French, social studies, math, computer science and health at the middle and high school levels. I also worked as a curriculum specialist and online course writer for educational agencies. In my spare time, I am a freelance French linguist and cultural consultant for international translation companies. I completed a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Calgary, a B.Ed. in French Immersion Education from the University of Alberta and a M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Toronto. I was honored to be named Teacher of the Year 2010-2011 at Cedar Valley Middle School. It meant a lot to me, because I could not ask for a better place to teach. My training includes AP French (Advanced Placement) from the AP Summer Institute at Rice University, foreign language seminars by AATF (American Association of Teachers of French) and TFLA (Texas Foreign Language Association). I am also the LOTE (Languages Other Than English) Department Chair for the school and on the District LOTE Leadership Team. Our family has lived in Round Rock since 2001. My husband and I have three children: a daughter in 12th Grade at Westwood High School, a son in 9th Grade at Round Rock High School and a daughter in 7th Grade at Cedar Valley Middle School. Our family loves to travel all around the world, especially to Canada, Europe and Kenya to visit our relatives. Count Hawaii as one of my favorite places too! Thank you for visiting my website! I look forward to meeting my new students and seeing my returning students. We're going to have a great year in French and Exploratory Languages! Au revoir! Adios! Auf Wiedersehen! Mme Macharia
