6th Grade Language Arts
Dear Students,
I am excited about working with you this year. My job is to help you become lifelong readers and writers. In order to ensure that you have a successful year, I have compiled a brief list of expectations:
· Come to class on time with your DEAR (library) book, Reader-Writer Notebook (a poly-binder with paper and dividers), and blue or black pen.
· Turn in final copies of compositions in blue or black ink or typed, with the correct heading and with all words spelled correctly.
· Respect the opinions, feelings, and property of others.
· Bring your planner each day to record assignments and due dates.
· Record daily reading on your reading log.
Poly-binder Organization:
You will need 5 dividers with tabs, which you will label as follows:
1. Reading Response / Warm-ups
2. Frames/Class Notes
3. Reading & Writing Workshop
4. Spelling and Vocabulary
5. Record Keeping
Supplies needed for Language Arts:
1. One set of dividers (5)
2. Two blue or black pens
3. Scissors
4. Glue stick
5. Notebook paper
6. Colored pencils
7. Highlighter
8. Poly-binder
9. Dictionary (to be kept at home)
