Relationship Driven Teaching,
fulfilling students' fundamental emotional needs to ensure that they want to
learn what I teach. Six standards accentuate RELATIONSHIP
DRIVEN TEACHING and build a motivating
learning context.
Standard 1: Safe-students
must feel safe from both physical danger and embarrassment.
Standard 2: Valuable-students
perceive that what they are doing has value.
Standard 3: Successful-students
need evidence of success in achieving either mastery or significant progress.
Standard 4: Involving-students
are more motivated to learn when they have a meaningful stake in what's going
on.
Standard 5: Caring-students
respond positively to being liked and to being accepted and respected members
of the class.
Standard 6: Enabling-teacher
must constantly seek out best practices that enable students' learning and
ensure students' attainment of standard.
