Tuesday, January 5

  • Review Course Organizer for 2009-2010 school year.  Students will record six weeks grades as well as first semester exam grades.

  • Go over/review reading and writing benchmarks with students.  Record E/LA benchmark score on course organizer.

  • HW:  none

Wednesday, 1/06

  • Warm-up activity:  Brainstorm problems present in the community.  (Examples might include dog/cat overpopulation, homelessness, school overcrowding, etc.)  Discuss how these might become possible research topics.
  • Go over and review research Powerpoint as an introduction to the research project we will be starting.  Students will need to decide on a topic by Friday.
  • TAKS writing - editing practice.  This is homework if not completed in class.

Thursday, 1/07

  • Grade homework (editing passage)
  • Introduce List 5 vocabulary assignment
  • Complete four square activity.
  • HW:  finish vocabulary definitions and four-square for homework.  Also, research topic is due tomorrow.

Friday, 1/08

  • Review vocabulary homework and share four-square products with class.
  • Sign up for research topics
  • Introduce note-taking process to students.
  • Brain-Pop movies about research.
  • Hw:  none
  • Evaluation of literature circle project
