I grew up being painfully shy, so when I moved to a new state (Texas!), I
decided to take theatre and hopefully gain more confidence. Well, it
worked! I've been involved in theatre since the 8th grade. I went to Baylor
University on a nursing scholarship, but once I found out only theatre majors
could be in shows. . .I quickly switched degree programs. I graduated Baylor
with a BFA in acting and continued on to graduate school at the Asolo
Conservatory at Florida State. After a year and a half of grad school, I
left to become a flight attendant with Continental Airlines for two years. It
was then I decided to go back to school and get my teaching certification. I
attended the University of Houston and minored in English and got my teaching
certification.
My first teaching job was teaching 9th grade English and High School theatre
at the very high school I had graduated from! At my first teacher inservice,
I met my husband-to-be, a technical theatre teacher. We are married and have
two fantastic girls who go to Great Oaks.
I love teaching theatre, but I also love: decorating, travel, cooking,
gardening, hiking, camping, reading, watching TV and movies, computer gaming,
and eating good food with good friends and family.
As teachers of theatre arts, we hope to impart to all our students not only
the enjoyable and fun aspects of drama but also the
serious craft behind it all.
