Hello! My name is Janel Bates. I am an 8th grade Inclusion teacher at
Cedar Valley Middle School. This is my fourth year here at Cedar Valley and
I am excited to be working with some of my seventh grade students from last
year. Before coming to RRISD, I worked in Austin ISD for 4 1/2years.
I received my bachelor's degree from UT in 1999 and my master's degree in
education from Texas Tech University this past May.
I am married to a wonderful man named Jeffery. We have two Labrador
Retrievers, one black and one golden. In my spare time I enjoy playing with
my dogs, practicing Krav Maga, and trying out new recipes or baking
desserts. My husband and I also love to try new restaurants in the Austin
area.
