District Band Auditions
Saturday, November 7th, 2009
The audition process/experience is as follows:
1. Students will audition for a place in the District Band.
2. The District Band does not perform, but students who place in the District Band will receive a patch of achievement.
3. Students who place high enough within the District Band qualify to audition for Region Band.
4. Region Band Auditions are on Saturday, November 14th.
5. Students who make the Region Band will rehearse together on December 11th & 12th, with a performance also scheduled for the 12th.
Agenda for Saturday, November 7th, 2009:
ü7:30am Students arrive at Ridgeview Middle School, Round Rock. Since Ridgeview is so close, we ask that your parents bring you to Ridgeview M.S. I will get some maps to the school or you can check out their web site. There is a map there. When you arrive all Students should warm up in the cafeteria. Cases should be left in the cafeteria. Please do not leave money or other valuables in the cafeteria.
ü8:00am Students will need to go to their audition room to check in. All students are pre-registered, but are still required to check in. Students who register late may not be allowed to audition.
ü8:30am Audition Process Begins. Students will not be permitted to leave the audition room until after all auditions have been completed. Some instrument groups (oboes) will take less time for the audition process than others (clarinets, trumpets) depending on the number of students auditioning.
üFinish Time We can’t give an exact time as to when each room will be finished. Most rooms should be finished by 2:00pm. However, the larger rooms like Flute, Clarinet and Percussion have about 78 students each. It may take a little longer. Your parents should be at Ridgeview Middle School to pick you up no later than 2:00pm. If you get done earlier than that, bring your cell phone so you can reach them to pick you up earlier.
