Do I need my book?

You will not need to bring your book to class. I now have a few
copies of each textbook for use during
before and after school help sessions. I may assign homework in
the textbook, so keep your
book at home or bring it to school if you need to finish work
before class.

Can I make corrections?

Yes.

Corrections can be made for daily/homework assignments and
quizzes that receive a grade below
70. All you need to do is make corrections on a separate piece
of notebook paper for the questions
that you missed, label this page Corrections and turn it in with
the original assignment/quiz
stapled to the back.

Corrections can be made for all tests that receive less than a
perfect score. These must be done on
a separate piece of printer paper. For each question missed, the
student must provide work for
solving the problem correctly and identify the mistake that was
made and a plan to prevent making
the same mistake again. We will practice using this format
together in class after the first test.

All corrections are due ONE DAY after the assignment/quiz/test is
returned to the student. This will
be strictly enforced because immediate corrections are most
effective for helping students master
concepts.

Are you available for extra help before or after school?

Absolutely! I am available in my room on Monday, Wednesday, and
Thursday mornings at 7:45. On
Tuesdays I will be in the Ainsworth team waiting area, but
students are welcome to come ask
questions. I have occasional meetings on Friday mornings, so
students should ask before planning
to come for help.

I will be available for afternoon help on Tuesdays and Thursdays
by appointment.

I'm confused about the homework assignment - what can I do?

If you ever do not understand the assignment when you get home,
you have several options:

First, try asking a friend if they understand it and can explain
it to you. (Make sure that they explain
it, and don't just give you the answers.) If that doesn't work,
your parents might be able to help you.
If you are still having trouble, send me an email. I cannot
guarantee that I will get it before school
the next day, but at least I will be able to see that you put
effort into the homework. Lastly, I am
available most mornings from 7:45 until school starts to answer
questions or review a concept.
