Artyouth
Artyouth will meet again on Monday October 19, 2009.

Grades
Where is your child with their grade in art?   Do they have missing work?
If so, please get them to a morning tutorial to catch-up (7:45 – 8:14).

If you have questions regarding a grade, please call or email your art teacher.

Remember, grades are posted in the art rooms each Friday morning and students are aware of their progress. Additionally, we all encourage parents to use the Home Access Center option of Gradespeed to check your child's progress in not only our classes, but all their others at CTMS as well! Call the school at 464.2500 if you have questions on this monitoring option for parents.

Online Lesson Plans
Check out the lesson plan link to the left for plans in visual art.
Plans for each course are posted online weekly.

Curriculum Focus for the week of October 19, 2009

Art 6
Please see Mrs. Wells' webpage for Art 6 lesson plans.

Art 7/8 – This week students will be completing our exploration of the art elements of Shape and Pattern. Students will complete a Mid-Point Assessment on their positive/negative designs. Completion of the project is scheduled for Wednesday, and students will complete their final rubric on this project at that time.
Later in the week we will begin studying the works of American artists Keith Haring and Andy Warhol in preparation for our unit on Printmaking. Students will use their knowledge of shape and pattern to help them create an original symbol and print design around the theme of “Freedom” for use in works that will be displayed for CTMS’s Veteran’s Day celebration on Nov. 11.

Art 8 -  This week students will be working toward completing their colored pencil techniques, and the Abstract Composition. Final rubrics will be completed by Tuesday for this project.
Upon completion of the colored pencil technique projects, students will begin to explore Careers in Art. We will take a look at the wide range of careers available to artists. Students will be divided into cooperative groups to create “Graphics Design companies” and be given a set of project tasks to complete.
