May 7, 2012We will go to the Library on Thursday! There will no longer be spelling. We will practice our spelling that we've learned over the year but we are starting to read Charlotte's Web as a class and our spelling and vocab will be pulled from that. However, there will not be lists that come home. For homework this week, I need the butterfly packets that came home last Friday to be turned in after they are completed.I am looking for anything you may have around your house that we could use to create our animal habitats - scrapbook materials, magazines, clay, fabric etc. We are going to be using the clay for the actual animal (we need all colors) and the other materials will be glued to a large piece of paper to create the habitat. Please send in whatever you have! We will start on the project Tuesday.I am also looking to borrow Charlotte's Web if anyone has one laying around the house. We will start this shared reading project on Tuesday, the 8th. Reminder! Track and Field is Wed. the 9th. Please wear comfortable and cool clothes. Bring a water bottle. I will have a spray fan to help cool them down throughout the day. Does anyone have a cooler on rollers? (I think I will have to invest in one sooner or later!). I also need a donation of ice if anyone could help. They could bring it around 8a and we can fill the coolers with the kids waters. It's that time of year...we have several June birthdays and I know the kids like to celebrate with their class before school ends. Let me know a day you would like to bring treats (if you and your child want to - this is completely optional).I am in the of reading assessments and once I am done, I plan on sending a little note home with each student that will list a few things I think the student should practice over the summer (specific to the student and geared to prepare them for 3rd grade). I also will send home a "Stepping up to 3rd Grade" packet that will give them activities to do. Please check the calendar link - there is a ton of stuff coming up! :-)Have a great week!Ms. Bethea
