Why did my child not review in class for the the upcoming test?
Students who do not have all typed notes, lecture notes, and chapter
vocabulary complete by the day of the test review will not be allowed to
participate in the review until materials are finished. Typically, it takes
between 1 and 2 weeks of class to complete a unit of study. On average a
student has about 7 days of real time to finish notes. Some notes are even
done in class together to lighten the load. Students will go into the hall
and be allowed to enter as soon as they finish the required notes.

What are participation points?
Participation points are a test grade each six weeks. Points are earned by
volunteering to read, answering questions during discussion, winning
knowledge based games we play from time to time, completing chapter
vocabularies early, and other various methods. Students are told when
another opportunity may arise for participation points. At the end of the
six weeks the students are ranked according to points obtained. First place
gets a 100 for a test grade, 2nd place gets a 99, 3rd a 98, and so on. If a
class has 22 students the lowest score would be approximately a 79 depending
on ties. This method of test is great for those who don't do paper tests
well. Students battle for these points up until the end which is about 4
days before the end of a six weeks. I also post a sheet which shows the
kids the number of points earned for the first 3 weeks. It is not a grade
at that point but it lets them know if they need to make up ground on those
leading.

What is the late paper policy for class?
Each student is given an opportunity to hand in one late paper per semester
without deduction. Additional late assignments will be recorded as a 0.

Is there extra credit?
No. The assigned work done by the student in a satisfactory manner earns
them their grade.
