We start each day with our morning meeting here on our bee rug, where I inform our class who my Busy Bee is for the day. Our Busy Bee is my helper for the day. I formerly used helpers for all the different activities in our day, but I now prefer to have one helper do everything.

We begin the meeting by greeting each other. The greeting is chosen by flicking the Greeting Spinner. The Busy Bee of the Day flicks the spinner. This helps establish a classroom community.
Here is a picture of the microphone we use for our Hollywood Hello. I bought it at Party City.

For our Pat on the Back Hello, I stuffed a garden glove and students use it to pat their neighbor on the back.

Here are the Hello Cards for Foreign Language Hello from the Greeting Spinner. If we land on Foreign Language, then we pick a card and greet everyone in that language. Then we read our Buzz Book, which is our morning message.
After that we reflect on our check in question for the day and make comparisons with our Greater Gator.
The Greater Gator is an activity I found from one of my favorite blogs, Welcome to Room 36.
Last, I inform the students of our schedule for the day so they are aware of any special activities or assessments for the day.
On Mondays we also learn about Dixie the Dachshund's weekend travels. Dixie is our weekend buddy.
