Theatre Expectations
Parents & Students: Please read this CAREFULLY, make sure you understand,
sign, and return it.
COURSE OBJECTIVE
This class will emphasize the importance of Theatre in our culture. Topics
will include: Voice, Movement, Script Writing, Character Analysis,
Pantomime, Improvisation, Musical Theatre, Duet Acting, Monologues, Theatre
Terminology and much more!
CLASS RULES
• No talking while the teacher or another presenter is speaking
• Raise hand when you would like to speak
• Ask for permission to leave seat
• Show RESPECT to Miss Ulbrich and fellow students
CONSEQUENCES
1.) Receive a warning and 10 points off of daily grade
2.) Receive 2nd warning and a phone call home
3.) Detention (i.e. D-Hall)
*More extreme behaviors such as fighting, talking back, violence, or
repeated misbehavior may result in removal from class, immediate conference
with an administrator, ISS, or OSS (out of school suspension).
DAILY MATERIALS
Pen/Pencil
Spiral Notebook for journal (must be 70 pages)
Folder for handouts
Additional supplies may be needed for special projects.
Adequate notice will be given
GRADING
Journal: 10% - counted twice every six weeks
Test: 10%
Participation: 20%
Presentation: 60%
THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW
1.) PARTICIPATION is the key to success in Theatre. A participation
grade will be taken each day. Misbehavior will result in 10 points off of
your participation grade for that day.
2.) Planners: Students will be required to use their planner to record
assignments and class activities for each day, and for leaving the class for
bathroom emergencies.
3.) Notebooks: Students will be given journal entries at the beginning
of each class period. Students are to write their answers in their
notebook. NOTEBOOKS WILL BE CHECKED AT THE END OF EACH 3 WEEKS THEREFORE
HAVING 2 JOURNAL GRADES PER 6 WEEKS. If you are absent check with a
neighbor/friend for the journal entry that was missed. Journals are to be
kept in a designated spot in the classroom at all times so that none may go
missing!
* Sometimes there will be surprise journal checks or quizzes –
REMEMBER TO DO
YOUR JOURNAL DAILY that is what the beginning of class is for!!!

5.) Final Thoughts: It is important to attend class daily and actively
participate in all activities. If you know you are going to be absent on
the day of a major speech or project please let Miss Ulbrich know before
hand. Miss Ulbrich is looking very forward to a successful year!
