In-Class Project's due tomorrow-present in class!!!

Journal Checks were today and several people forgot. Please remember to turn in tomorrow for a late grade (-15 pts) and by Thursday (-30 pts). The in Class Number Mania Project Number-Mania.docstarted today. Students will work in class on the project, but they need to bring a posterboard on Friday & Monday to put their information on. Project will be due at the end of class on Monday, May 21st. Students can turn in on Tuesday, May 22nd if necessary with no late pts deducted. After Tuesday, I will start deducting late pts. I sent home progress reports on Monday for periods 1,3-7 and period 8 got their reports today. Progress Reports are due at the end of the day on Friday, May 18, 2012 for extra credit, NO EXCEPTIONS.

Projects were FANTASTIC overall!!! Way to go guys!!! I still have to finish grading 8th block and I am hoping to have in the gradebook by the end of 2nd block (10:15) tomorrow. All corrections and extra credit due Friday. If you got below a 70 on the Project, correct your mistakes to get up to a 70 by Friday!!!

Project Sheet handed out today! Project will be worked on inside and outside of class. The project can be turned in early before the 3-day break for extra credit or on the due date Monday, April 9, 2012. Project information and example available on the Project page. Students will receive three grades for the project.

Unit 9 Test Tomorrow (2-9-12) & Extra Credit Due. I made a study guide for each student to review with tonight, but it will not be a grade, but extra credit if its completed with parent signature. The test will not extend after tomorrow. Their will be NO EXTRA TIME unless that is stated in your IEP. Unit-9-Study-Guide.docx. Last Question on

Grades are updated to reflect HW 4-1, 4-2 and Daily 5 grade (including late work/make-up work). Hw 4-2 part II due tomorrow for all periods except 5th/6th (due to the assembly). This is not available online and most students finished in class. The Volume Review passed out (except for 6th period) and available online. Test on Friday over Volume/Review DUE.
I have a good deal of students not turning in work on time. With the new schedule, HW/Test can be due on an Odd Calendar day in Math and Social Studies. So far, all 8th Grade Students have not had a Social Studies HW/Test on the same day as a Math Assignment, so their should be no reason for the lack of HW. I also have a lot of students not showing work. In my Syllabus, I have stated that No Work = No Credit. I remind students almost everyday to show all work. Our Current unit over Volume, requires work because of the different Formula's used. Please talk with your child about doing their work. I have told my students that if I see "magic" answers, it will get marked wrong and soon it will turn to an automatic Zero. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Grades are updated in Infinite Campus and students should get their Report Cards on Friday.
Second Semester has officially started. Calendar is updated for the next two weeks for Unit 8: Volume. Homework is available online in the HW section and Unit 8 ReviewVolume-Review.docx is available online early. Test will be next Friday.
With the new schedule, students will go to 8 periods a day, so a new schedule has been put in place to help with homework/testing. On odd Calendar days of the week (1,3, 5, 7, etc), that students are at school, Math and Social Studies can have HW due and quizzes/test on the same day. On even Calendar days of the week (2,4,6,8, etc), English, Science and Electives can have HW due and quizzes/test on the same day. With that being said, I will have some HW due on Monday's. I will most likely not have a Test on a Monday, but it could happen and of course I will send out a newsflash as a reminder.

Welcome Back!!! I have updated the Calendar for the next two weeks. Unit 7 Test will be this week on Wednesday for classes 4,6,8 and Thursday for classes 1,3,5,7. We will be reviewing in class on Monday/Tuesday.
Also, look at the Calendar because it has the Semester Exam schedule for next week.

Semester-Exam-Review-Fall-2011.doc. Tutorials are on schedule this week. I will have an extra tutorial next week after school on Monday (1/9)/Wednesday (1/11) until 5pm to answer any last minute questions before the exam the following day. If you have my exam on Tuesday, plan to stay Monday afterschool and if you have my exam on Thursday, plan on staying Wednesday afterschool. Please let me know if you have any questions since the end of the six weeks is next Thursday. I will have another extra credit assignment available for pick-up on Tuesday.

Please only do the Front side of HW 3-4, not the word problems on the back. If you did the word problems, you will receive extra credit. HW 3-4 available NOW in the HW section. Due to Field Trips this week, the planner check did not happen, so it will occur when we get back from Winter Break. Progress Reports/3-D shapes due tomorrow for extra credit. Extra Credit over the Break is to finish making the 3-D nets we worked on in class on Friday. Look at the extra credit section for more details next week.

Grades updated in Inifinte Campus. Calendar is updated for the week with grades that will be due. I am sending home a progress report today for my class for parent/guardians to view and leave a comment for extra credit. If you child failed their Percent Project, it was most likely due to their lack of completing the calculations. Please have your child work on correcting the calculations part of the project to raise their grade to a 70.
Also, we need prisms, cylinders, and pryamids for a Measurement Activity for Wednesday, I will be giving extra credit for any student who brings empty 3-D shapes listed above. Extra Credit is due tomorrow that was assigned last week. Planner Check will be on Wednesday/Thursday of this week and HW 3-4 is due Friday (this is not available online until I scan it) and will be given out in class today.

Also, I am working hard to get all grades updated for Progress Reports next week, so Infinite Campus will be updated by Monday at 3pm, until then I will try to pass back some of the projects that I have finished grading, but the grade is not yet in Infinite Campus. I am more than happy to verify any assignments if they have been turned in, but I may have not graded all of them yet, so please be understanding.

Calendar Updated for the Week. Christmas List Assignment is past due and the last day to turn in Tuesday 12-6-11 for a 70 as the highest possible grade. The Assignment was worth two grades. Project's are due tomorrow. We will presenting them during class-remember the presentation must electronic, NO POSTER BOARDS!!!! HW 3-3 will be given out today and due on Friday. Journal Test on Friday and the table of contents is available in the Journal section. Tutorials are on schedule this week and I am available in the afternoons by appointment only. Calendar Updated for the week. Christmas List Assignment due Friday. Percent Proportions Quiz WED/THUR. We are in the lab on Friday for our Final day to work on Projects. Projects are due next Tuesday and will be presented during class. I will be gone Tuesday, Nov. 29 all day at a conference in Austin. I will be back on Wednesday. The students will work on HW 3-2 in class on Tuesday with the substitue. If the assignment is not finished, it will be due the next class day.

No Tutorials on Tuesday AM this week, I have a parent meeting. I also will not have tutorials Tuesday 11-29-11 because I will be at a conference in Austin all day. I have posted the 2nd six weeks grades in Infinite Campus. Unit 5 Tests should be posted on Wednesday in Infinite Campus since I have a few students needing to finish due to absences. We are working in the Computer Lab on Mon, Tues, and Fri this week on the Percent Project. Project will be due Tuesday, December 6th. I have websites posted in my Links section to help students find information online. Project hand-out available on website is students misplaces or pick-up one in my classroom.

Students were given a progress report with their current Math average on Monday in periods 3,4,5, & 6 and 1, 7, & 8 today (Tuesday). Parents need to sign and leave a comment/question on the progress report for extra credit. The end of the six weeks is next Friday. All quiz/test corrections are due at the end of the six weeks. If the corrections are not done correctly, the grade will not be raised to a 70. Please use tutorial times to help get questions answered on homework and especially if you are trying to correct your quiz/test grades.
***Reminder about late work---I do not except homework after two days nor do I allow homework/daily grade corrections. Students are given at least one extra credit opportunity per week to replace low daily/hw grades and they can also use their reward tickets to buy a pass if needed to replace a low daily/hw grade.

Grades updated for the week in Infintie Campus. If you can't log into Infinite Campus, email LauraHash@misdmail.org or call the school @ 817-276-6200. HW 2-1 due on Tuesday. Calendar will be updated on Monday/Tuesday for the upcoming Unit 4 that we just started on Friday over Proportions. Unit 3 Test Corrections due Friday 10/14/11, please send your child to tutorials to get help during normal tutorials on Tues/Thurs mornings from 8-8:40 (passes online and in classroom). Also, I am going to be available this week Tues/Wed/Thurs from 4-4:30 in the afternoons to help students complete their corrections. Parent/Teacher Conference day is Monday and I still have a few spots available, but it's on a first come, first serve basis. Parents of struggling/failing students' will have priority, but I will be happy to speak with you over the phone on Monday or set-up a conference for another day, just send me an email with the best number and I will email or call you back to answer any questions you might have about your child in my class.

Grades have been posted in Infinite Campus for the first six weeks. Periods 4, 6, 8 Unit 3 Test Tomorrow and Periods 1, 3, 5,7 Test is Thursday. Unit 3 Review Answers uploaded- go to the Reviews/Tests section. Homework is uploaded and due this week. I will have a substitue on Wednesday all day, but will be here the rest of the week. Calendar Updates with Homework/Quiz next week. The Journal Test was today and overall students did great! Some students forgot/did not have their spiral available for grading, so it can be accepted on Monday at 1-day late penalty. Please refer to the Journal tab for some of the pages/table of contents/grading rubric. I will grade the Unit 2 Test over the weekend and the grades should be updated Monday morning. The end of the six weeks is Next Friday. My Tutorial schedule next week is different due to end of the month faculty meeting, plus I added a few times after school to help with Unit 2 Test corrections.
