Teen Leadership/ Mrs. Cordova
Dear Students and Parents,
Welcome to Teen Leadership! I am so excited to get started this year! Teen
Leadership is a program in which students develop leadership, personal, and
business skills. Students will learn to develop a healthy self-concept,
healthy relationships, and learn to understand the concept of personal
responsibility. Students will develop an understanding of emotional
intelligence and the skills it measures, which include self-awareness, self-
control, self-motivation, and social skills. Students will develop skills in
public speaking and communication and an understanding of personal image.
Students will develop an understanding of the concept of principal-based
decision-making and develop their own personal mission statement. They will
develop an understanding of the effects of peer pressure and will develop
skills to counter act those effects. Students will develop an understanding
of the principles of parenting, enabling them to become better family members
and citizens. They will also develop an understanding of the need for vision
in goal-setting, personally and professionally.

Materials Needed and Options:
-Students can either have:
o A spiral bound notebook with a folder
o A three ring binder with two dividers
o Teen Leadership can be added to another subject’s binder
-Students will need a highlighter, pen (Black or Blue) and a pencil
Supplies that is not required but would be helpful:
-Markers
-Colored pencils
-Ruler
-Index cards ( for speeches)
Note: Students can receive 3 points extra credit on a quiz for donating
Kleenex
boxes.
Tutorials
Tutorials will take place Monday-Friday before or after school. Please note
that students must give me advance notice if they will be attending
tutorials. Afternoon time 3:30-3:45 / Morning 7:45 -8:10
Homework
Homework will be assigned on a regular basis.
Make-up Work Policy
Students who are absent will be responsible for all missed work. They will
have five school days to complete missed work, make-up test and quizzes for
full credit. If you miss a test or quiz; you must make it up before or after
school.
Late Work Policy
Students should turn in work on time. Should an assignment be turned in late;
10 points will be deducted each day that the assignment is late. On the fifth
day students will receive a 50 and no longer have the opportunity to turn in
the missing assignment. Missing assignments will be counted as a 50 until
completed.

Guidelines for Success
•Have an open mind.
Be attentive in class: Listen, participate, and ask questions.
•Don’t be afraid to ask for help.
•Develop a study schedule.
•Complete all class work and assignments. (Practice makes perfect.)
•Be on time to class, prepared and ready to learn.
•Give your very best effort everyday.
I am looking forward to teaching you. My goal is to guide each student on
learning the required curriculum while having a positive learning experience
and excellent class results.

Objectve for Leadership will be for students to understand the importance of
first impressions, understand importance of developing relationships, develop
techniques in remembering names, and last use letter writing as a process to
build relationships.

Homework: Practice shaking the hand and saying hello to five different people.

1. Warm-up
2. Practice presentation skills.
3. Practice techniques to remember names.
4. Celebrations.
Homework: Meet one new person and as you are talking to them say their name
at least three times and practice the techniques you learned today in class.

2. Write letters to founders of leadership for our campus.
3. Write letters of affirmation to classmates.
