Exploratory Spanish - 6th grade12/14/09 - 12/18/09 This week we will be learning about holiday traditions around the Spanish speaking world. We will complete a couple holiday crafts, read a holiday story, and sing Spanish carols. 12/07/09 - 12/11/09 This week we will continue to focus on activities we like and dislike. We will also do some final review games and activities for all of the vocabulary we learned this year. Monday - Vocabulary games with activities. Tuesday - Speaking practice - questions and answers to compare likes and dislikes with classmates. Vocab. game - Bingo with activities. Wednesday - Final project - Un Librito Sobre Yo (A Little Book About Me) Thursday - Work on final project. Friday - Finish final project (if needed). Share/Read books to classmates. Vote on top 3 best projects. 11/30/09 - 12/04/09 This week we will learn how to describe what activities we like to do and don't like to do. Monday - Read about Aztec games. Watch video on the "voladores". Intro to vocabulary (activities) with actions and charades. Share interests with classmates and compare interests. Tuesday - Student Survey about activities classmate like to do. Start Diamond Poem. Wednesday - No electives. Early Release. Thursday - Finish Diamond Poem. Present poems to class. Friday - Film en español. 11/16/09 - 11/20/09 This week we will learn about colors in Spanish. We will practice asking and answering, as well as writing, about our favorite colors. We will also do some "color by number" activities in class. 11/09/09 - 11/13/09 This week we will learn about various countries in the Spanish speaking world. We will be in the computer lab researching information about a particular country. Students will fill out a question packet with information about a country's culture, customs, history, and geography. We will share information about the countries researched at the end of our "exploration". 11/02/09 - 11/06/09 This week we will go back to talking about foods and beverages in Spanish. We will play games to review vocabulary and work on a skit that will presented to the class. 10/26/09 - 10/30/09 This week we will focus on Mexican culture by learning about and creating crafts related to the Mexican holiday and celebration Día de los Muertos. 10/19/09 - 10/23/09 This week we will continue to work with foods and beverages in Spanish. Students should study their vocabulary at home everyday. Monday - Discuss and practice how to express likes and dislikes in Spanish. Mini-poster activity for likes/dislikes with foods and beverages. Tuesday - NO electives due to early release. Wednesday - Finish mini-poster activity. Watch cultural video over food in Cuba. Thursday - Student suvery about likes and dislikes. Vocabulary games. Friday - Film in Spanish. 10/13/09 - 10/16/09 This week we will start learning about foods and beverages in Spanish. Students should study their vocabulary at home everyday. They will have a vocabulary list and flashcards to study with. Tuesday - Cultural video on food in Spain. Introduction to vocabulary. Make flashcards. Wednesday - Practice conversations about what you eat and drink in Spanish. Write and illustrate about what we eat and drink at the 3 meals. Thursday - Review foods and beverages. Student survey in Spanish on what they eat and drink at different meals. Friday - Cultural video on food in Argentina. Vocabulary game - pictionary. 10/05/09 - 10/09/09 This week we will continue to work with days, months, seasons, and weather. We will also learn how to tell time in Spanish. QUIZ THURSDAY over days, months and dates, seasons and weather, and time. Monday - Review vocabulary, including numbers with speaking, listening, and writing practice. Learn about telling time with speaking and writing practice. Tuesday - Complete worksheet on time. Vocab. games. Wednesday - Telling Time activity in pairs. Vocab. games. Thursday - QUIZ over days, months and dates, seasons and weather, and time. Friday - Film in Spanish. 09/28/09 - 10/02/09 This week we will start learning vocabulary for the days, months, seasons, and weather. We will have a QUIZ next week over this vocabulary. Homework - Study the new vocabulary list for days, months, seasons, and weather everyday. Monday - Intro to new vocabulary with songs and oral activities. Practice questions. Tuesday - Work on Seasons Poster Wednesday - Finish poster. Vocab. games. Thursday - Work on packet for days, giving dates, and weather. Friday - Practice with questions related to days, dates, weather. Vocab. games. 09/21/09 - 09/25/09 This week we will continue working with numbers in Spanish. Homework - Study numbers with your flashcards or vocabulary list everyday. Monday - Vocabulary games with numbers. Tuesday - Complete numbers packet. Partner speaking and listening activity. Games. Wednesday - Review numbers. Complete packet. Play bingo with numbers. Thursday - Review numbers. Take quiz. Friday - Film in Spanish. 09/14/09 - 09/18/09 This week we will finish our lessons on basic introductions and conversations. We will also begin to learn about numbers in Spanish. Homework - Study the basic vocabulary for introductions and basic questions to prepare for the quiz on Tuesday. Study the numbers in Spanish everyday. Monday - Practice with questions and conversations. Vocabulary game. Tuesday - QUIZ over basic vocab. and questions. Wednesday - Introduction to numbers in Spanish. Numbers practice. Thursday - Practice with numbers - written and oral. Work on numbers packet. Friday - Practice with numbers - written and oral. Work on numbers packet. Vocab. games. 09/08/09 - 09/11/09 This week we will focus on basic introductions and conversations. Homework: Students should practice the new vocabulary at home. They will receive a handout and will make flashcards to help them study. We will also be writing skits in class, and students should practice their parts at home. We will have a QUIZ next Tuesday over vocabulary. Tuesday: Introduce vocabulary. Make flashcards. Wednesday: Practice questions. Start writing skits in pairs using new vocabulary. Thursday: Finish writing skits and practice skits. Start presentations? (if time) Friday: Finish presenting skits. Movie in Spanish. 08/31/09 - 09/04/09 This week we will be learning about the Spanish alphabet and pronuciation. Homework: Students should practice saying the Spanish alphabet out loud at home. They will receive a handout to help them practice. Students should also practice spelling out words and names using the Spanish alphabet. Monday - Introduction of the Spanish alphabet with chant. Practice saying the alphabet and spelling words in pairs. Tuesday - Practice spelling common Spanish names. Spell out middle names for class. Start practicing pronuciation through rhymes and tongue twisters. Wednesday - Practice pronunciation and alphabet. Bingo game with alphabet. Thursday - Listening QUIZ on alphabet. Tongue Twister and Rhyme challenge. Friday - Learn about the Mexican flag and create personal flag |
