What is a Literacy Coach?

The position was created so each campus would have an embedded
specialist/resource who could work with and support teachers/curriculum,
focusing on improving literacy in all content areas.

area classes, so students can be more independent,

What's the purpose of the Lit. Coach's observations?

Observation is all it is; there is nothing evaluative to it. **To me the
main reason is so I can stay connected to you, your students and what
Deerpark looks like from the inside. **I'm looking for practices that
are working (so I can talk you into sharing :) -- so please let me know when
you've found something your kids are really responding to! **From time
to time I may want to see a particular student in action. **I AM also
available to come in to observe you if you have something specific you'd
like me to watch for (like TESA, in a way), but that's by your invitation
only. **And IF you want to discuss anything after I've stopped by your
class, let me know- otherwise, I'm just out looking at what's going on
around the school.

How do I find you or know when you're available?

Check out the two links above (one for the current week, one for
stuff I have coming up), then make a request. You can also:

Check the little office at the end of the 2 downstairs hallways
if Im not there, slide a note under the doorwhatever works!
