Next week, students should not be bringing their backpacks to school. They may bring their lunchboxes, but no backpacks. They really should not need many supplies the last week. We will also be running a regular schedule all week next week, including the last day. We are not having parties, but we will have our awards ceremony at 2pm. If your child was on the A Honor Roll or will be receiving a special award, they should have a letter today. If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Forbes.
Again, it has been a pleasure this year. We wish all of our students good luck next year!
A Note from the Nurse:
 Students are required to have the following immunization before entering 7thgrade:
·        Tdap; 1 dose (if an immunization containing tetanus has not been received in the last 5 years)
·        2 doses of varicella vaccine if a student has not had the Chicken Pox Disease
·        Meningococcal
If your child has received these immunizations, please send a copy of the vaccine record from the physician to the School Nurse.
Due to budget constraints on the state and federal levels, the rules for eligibility for low cost immunizations provided through the Texas Vaccine for Children Program (TVFC) have changed. As a result, the local health departments, schools and medical providers currently enrolled in the TVFC program may no longer be able to provide these low cost vaccines to your child as they have in the past. Children who have private insurance, which cover vaccines will no longer be eligible for the TVFC program. They will have to be referred to their physician for vaccinations.

 For the safety of all students, all medications will need to be picked up by a parent or guardian on or before 5/25/2012.
 A form will be sent home with your child during the week of 5/14/2012 requiring parent or guardian signature.
There will be two options :
1) Medication can be picked up on or before 5/25/2012
2) The school nurse can dispose of your child's medications on the last day of school (5/25/2012)
 Please have your child return the form to the nurse.

In the classrooms next week:
 Language Arts 
In Language Arts class, we will be finishing Book 2 of The Tales of the Odyssey and students will be presenting their Storybird projects to the class. I highly recommend that parents take a peek at their child's online book....many of the students have expressed interest in purchasing a hardbound copy of their Hero's Journey!
Math
6th Grade Accel Math: wrapping up Geometric Properties Unit (Translations, Reflections, Similar Figures, Scaling)...Test on Wednesday
6th Grade Math:  Video Presentations (iTeach Math Video)
Science
Discussion over Alien Rescue and where they decided to re-home the different aliens;very short test over gravity and space on Tuesday.Finish space unit rest of week.
 World Cultures
We will be creating The Land Down Under ABC Book. Students will work in pairs to write and illustrate a book on Australia and the Pacific Rim. They will read their books to their classmates on Thursday.
