Dear Parents,
Lots of exciting things have been happening in Quest!
Our first graders have been detectives as they solved several mysteries in the school and have learned about logic puzzles. We are also learning the science behind several magic tricks. We will beginning Zooland, our study of animals in November.
Second graders are participating in a program called Whale Times, Creep into the Deep. We have learned about deep sea creatures and their role in the marine ecosystem. This week we celebrated "Happy Hagfish Day." I hope you enjoyed the slime that went home! We wrote haiku poems and looked for the "beauty within the ugly." We have a poster we signed go down with a submersible on an upcoming expedition.
Third graders are busy toy makers. We have learned about favorite toys and toys of long ago. Thank you to Camille's Grandpa as our guest visitor who talked to us about his favorite train. We practiced our "reverse engineering" skills by taking apart toy cars. Soon we will form our own companies to create an original toy.
Fourth graders have started their Enigma work. We are learning about the Marfa Lights in Marfa, TX. We will take on the role of a scientist in learning about enigmas all over the world.
I hope to see you at the SAGT Barnes and Noble fundraiser on Nov. 6-8. If you purchase a book and tell the store to benefit SAGT, we will receive money to help the Quest program. Last year, we used money to help fund a Mindstorm robotic kit. I will be there on Sat., Nov. 7 from 9:00-11:00 to play Think Games with students. For other events, see list below.

WordMaster words have gone home for third and fourth grades. Students are actively finding the words in books they read and are bringing in the book or a copy of the page. We copy the sentence and put it on the cupboard. Students get the roll the dice to the "Questopoly" Game for prizes and fun. Our first WordMaster analogy meet will be held the week of Dec. 7.
Online Math League students in grades 2-4 are practicing by visiting the website at
http://www.onlinemathleague.com/. Use my email address and ask your child for the password to access the practice questions. Our Math League date will be the week of Nov. 16 during the regular Quest classes.
Thank you for all you do and I hope to see you at Barnes and Noble!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Leddy
