What time does Preschool begin?
Preschool begins at 8:00 a.m. You may drop off your child at the classroom
or in car line. A staff member will be available by 7:50 each morning to
meet your child in front of the school.
What if my child is late for school?
We understand that there may be instances when it is not possible to be here
on time. However, please try to have your child at school on time so we can
begin our day together. If your child is late for school, you will need to
bring him or her to the office and obtain a tardy slip before coming to the
classroom.
What time is dismissal?
We dismiss at 2:00 p.m. A staff member will bring your child to your car at
dismissal. Pick up is in front of the school (in the same location as the
a.m. drop off).
Does the preschool program have a nap or quiet time? Yes. We have a
quiet time each day. We have cots available for each child. Children may
bring a small blanket to use during quiet time. Blankets will be sent home
every Friday for cleaning.
What time do the students eat lunch?
We eat lunch in the cafeteria each day at approximately 10:20 a.m. Children
may bring a lunch or buy one from the cafeteria.
How much is the school lunch and how do I pay for it?
The school lunch is $2.15. Parents are encouraged to go to the cafeteria
and deposit money in their child’s account when necessary. If you are
unable to go to the cafeteria, you may send a check in your child's folder
and we will deliver it to the cafeteria. You may also pay on-line.
Are there choices for the school lunch?
There are 3 choices each day. A lunch menu is available on the CISD website.

Who supervises the CISD Preschool program?
Dr. McIlvain is the Principal of Durham Elemenatry and Ms. Debra Neal is the
Preschool Coordinator for CISD.
What is the best way to contact Mrs. Connell?
Telephone calls placed during class time will go directly to voicemail, but
will be returned as soon as possible after school. If your message is
urgent, please ask the office staff to connect you directly to the
classroom. You may also send a note to school with your child at any time
in his or her folder.
Will my child have a school folder?
Yes. Your child will have a school folder which will be updated daily.
Please read the information in the folder each night and return it to school
the following day as important information regarding your child’s education
will be included.
Does my child need a backpack?
Yes. All students will need a functional backpack large enough to hold a
9x12 inch folder inside without folding or bending. Backpacks with wheels
are not allowed. Backpacks will be used daily to hold your child's many
important papers and projects as well as their school folder. Since many
backpacks look alike, please label your child's backpack with his/her first
name visible on the outside. Please be sure to send your child's backpack to
school every day.
Does my child need to bring a change of clothes to school?
Yes. Please send an extra change of clothes to school enclosed in a Ziploc
bag in your child's backpack. Please include the following items:
underwear, socks, shirt, pants or shorts.
Do I need to purchase school supplies for my child?
Yes. An itemized list of supplies is available on the CISD website. Many of
these items may be purchased through a pre-packaged set or you may purchase
the items separately. Please bring the supplies to the open house
or to school on the first day. All supplies will be stored in the classroom
and shared throughout the school year.
