When will my child come to Quest this year?

Quest students in both 5th and 6th grades will be pulled out of some of 
their regularly scheduled encore classes.

How will my child be graded for Quest this year?

A Quest grade will be awarded each six weeks based upon performance rubrics 
that evaluate organization, participation, work completion, quality of work 
and special projects.

Will my child have any Quest homework this year?

Students will be asked to work individually and in groups on assignments or 
projects, the majority of which will be done during Quest class time. 
However some of this work will need to be completed at home.

What will my child study in Quest this year?

Both fifth and sixth graders will participate in a semester of science and a 
semester of humanities during the year. Student work requires problem 
solving and thinking skills.

What is Humanities?

Humanities can be definied several ways but the definition that mostly fits 
our program is, "Humanities is about people: how people shape the world they 
live in; how the world they live in makes them the people they are." (The 
Humanities Association)

How will my child learn in Quest this year?

Most of the Quest curriculum has been designed to allow experiential 
learning. Students will engage in class discussions on selected readings and 
self-directed activities that include independent research, group and 
individual projects, and Socratic discussion.

How will you stay in touch with me about Quest?

Please email Mrs. Hoag at the link on this website to be added to the DIS 
Quest parents' email list, then look for occasional emails. Also watch this 
website for announcements and other new information.

How can parents be involved with Quest this year?

Quest parents may be occasionally asked to volunteer to assist with special 
activities (please watch the volunteer page on this website for 
specifics), to be field trip chaperones, and to attend some special Quest 
events that occur during the year. You can also donate to the program 
(please see the wish list page on this website).
