                        Student Behavior Expectations

-- Listen and Pay Attention: Be respectful of "My Time" and "Your Time."
-- Teacher's "My Time" is class instruction.
-- Student's "Your Time" is class discussion (raise your hand for
permission to speak) or group work time (quiet voice levels,
               please).

-- Make Smooth Transitions: Move from one activity to another quietly.

-- Follow Directions: Listen carefully, wait for instruction.

-- Keep an Organized Science Lab Notebook (portfolio): According to
directions, make one tabbed section for each:
        -- Vocabulary
        -- Notes/Drawings
        -- Lab Sheets

-- Participate in Discussion: Raise your hand to be called upon. All
   students participate equitably.

-- Work Cooperatively in Groups: Perform/rotate assigned jobs, such as:
        --	Portfolio Manager
        -- Supply Manager
        -- Cleanup Manager
        -- Facilitator/Wild Card

   clean and dry.

-- Stay on Task: Focus on science activities in science class.

-- Talk Appropriately: Raise your hand for permission to speak.
During group work time use quiet voice levels.

-- Extra Credit: Extra credit assignments are posted on this website. They
provide enrichment learning opportunities and can also be used
as "insurance" in case your grade is on the borderline. Extra credit
assignments should be filed in the front pocket of your portfolio.

-- Grades: Science lab grades will be based upon thoroughness of
notes/drawings,class participation, completion of lab sheets and portfolio
organization. All work must be filed in your portfolio, as grades will be
given based upon the work in your portfolio.

-- Pencil Sharpening: Sharp pencils will be provided on each table. Please
use these pencils but do not take them from the science lab. Raise your
hand for permission to sharpen pencils.

-- Restroom Visits: Please use the restroom before school, at recess,
breaks and lunch. Only emergency bathroom visits are allowed during
   science lab.

-- Attention Signals: During labs, a chime or clapping will be used to signal
for attention. Please listen and pay attention to the signals.

-- Class Disturbance: Students who disturb science class will be
allowed three chances to correct their behavior before being asked to
sign the conduct book. Signatures in the Science Lab conduct book will be
reported to homeroom teachers for disciplinary action. The parents/
guardians of students who repeatedly and severely disrupt science lab
class will be called and/or the students will be sent to the Principal's
