About The Teacher Label:
About The Teacher
My name is Emily Trammell and I have been the art teacher at Durham Intermediate since 2005. I attended college at the University of North Texas, where I graduated magna cum laude with a BFA in Art Education. I am also a graduate of Carroll High School. I love to teach and help students discover a love for art. When I make art I especially enjoy watercolor, acrylic, collage, and calligraphy.
Mission Label:
Mission
I desire to teach a foundational understanding of art that will stay with each of my students as they go through life. My curriculum will start with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills, but it will not end there. I will strive to help each student find self-confidence and spark creative thinking. I will show them the freedom and joy of artistic expression. I will create a classroom environment that is safe, fun, and stimulating. Through hands-on projects students will become more aware of other cultures and art in their lives. Most of all I want to make a difference in a child's life. I want to inspire a child to do something they never before thought was possible. This desire is what keeps me motivated, rejuvenates me when I'm tired, and pushed me to become a better teacher.
