"Creativity takes Courage"

-Henri Matisse

Mrs. Amick

My name is Lizzie Amick and I am thrilled to be the Art teacher here at Eubanks.  I graduated from the University of North Texas with a BA in Art.  I have been teaching art since 2002 and have been with Carroll ISD since 2006. As an artist, I enjoy oil painting, abstract and modern art, and lithography printmaking.  Teaching art is my true passion and I enjoy sharing that with the wonderful students here at Eubanks!

Curriculum

Students work on a variety of projects and media to develop confidence as artists. Fifth Grade focuses on art elements and basic techniques while Sixth Grade focuses on concepts, craftsmanships, and advanced techniques. Every artist will paint a canvas with acrylics, create original 3-dimensional ceramics, complete realistic and abstract drawings, have a clear understanding of art history, and develop personal styles in their artwork.

Art Club

Art club meetings will take place before school from 8:00-8:30 am on Tuesdays or Thursday, depending on which club you join.

  • Photography Club (Tuesday Oct. 9-Dec 11)   Students will learn basic photography skills using digital cameras.  Pictures will be displayed in the school and used in the EIS Yearbook.  EIS has several digital cameras.  Students may also bring their own digital camera with written parent permission.  There is a $5 supply fee for printing paper and printer ink.
  • Mural Club (Tuesday Jan 8-Mar 11)   Have you ever wanted to paint on the walls?  Now you can!  In mural club, students will create permanent, original artwork on the walls of Eubanks.
  • Ceiling Tile Club (Thursday Oct 11-Dec 13)   Art is everywhere, even on the ceiling thanks to the Ceiling Tile Club.  Students will paint ceiling tiles to create a river of fish swimming around the ceiling in Mrs. Harvey’s Science Lab.
  • Community Art Club (Thursday Jan 10 -Mar 5)Do you like to make people’s day?  Spread the joy of art around the community with different projects and paintings.
  • Every Art Club member will be allowed one absence and two tardies.  If there is more then one absence or two tardies, the student will not be allowed to participate in art club for the rest of the school year.  At that time, a student from the wait list will be asked to fill the spot.  Attending tutoring is an excused absence with a parent note.
