Parent Letter

5th Grade

With the beginning of a new semester, we will be starting out with practicing keyboarding. We use the program All the Right Type to practice. This is a self-paced tutorial program that the students enjoy doing. The following link gives you the opportunity to download the program at home for a fee.

We will also begin a unit on setting goals. We will watch a short video and then each student will set two academic goals for the second semester. We will type these goals in MSWord and learn to add and format clip art. After that we will do a learning survey on www.vark-learn.com.

6th Grade

6th Grade will also be doing goal setting and then the learning survey. We will also do the Spell Checker Activity called "What Font". This activity will show the student how the spell checker only checks spelling and not the use of the word. Each student had to copy and paste this poem from the internet and then correct the word usage.
