I was born and raised in El Paso and received my teaching
degree from UTEP after raising two daughters. I taught third grade for
seven years with the Ysleta district before moving to New Mexico. While we
lived in New Mexico, I taught for 6 years in a small district in the Jemez
Valley. I worked with students who lived on the Jemez Pueblo, others who
lived in the small rural community of Ponderosa, and students who lived in
Los Alamos. I then transferred to the Rio Rancho school district (the first
Charter district in New Mexico). I taught there for three years before my
husband and I decided to move to Austin to be closer to our daughters and
grandchildren.
We have two beautiful daughters, Sherrill (a CPA) and Brenda (an
attorney). We have three wonderful grandchildren~ a grandson, Matthew, and
two granddaughters, Nicole and Kamryn. Matthew will start his sophomore
year, Nicole will be in the 4th grade and Kamryn will be in the 2nd grade.
In my spare time, I love spending time with my family and my very
spoiled kitty, Zoe. She and I love to lay around, watch tv, and take nice,
long naps together! I love to ride bikes, swim, work in the yard, and go
for long walks early in the morning during the summer months. My husband,
Tom, and I love to take day trips around Texas on the weekends too. Our goal
is to see every county courthouse in central Texas!! We still have many,
many more miles to travel, and many, many more courthouses to see!
